Forgotten Stars in the Hobby
Karl Towns and Giannis Antetokounmpo are quietly putting together some of the most impressive seasons in their career and even franchises history. Both stars come from very different NBA upbringings with Towns being the consensus #1 pick from John Calipari's Kentucky. Giannis on the other hand was an unknown prospect that the Hawks tried to "hide in their basement" according to Jeff Teague. Now both players have been franchise cornerstones for over half a decade now.
Towns is in his first season in the Big Apple after the block buster off-season Julius Randle trade. He is having a career year averaging 24/13/3/1 on insane 52/42/82 shooting splits for a 7 foot big man.

Despite a career year in the biggest basketball market in the world as the 3 seed, Towns really has not seen much movement. The big man never selling moniker is a tale as old as time but he plays like a guard, so you think the consumer would give him more leeway.
Giannis on the other hand has been putting together seasons of over 27/10/5 averages for almost a decade now. After raising the trophy in 2021, everything has kind of been downhill since.
Another year of an insane statline, arguably one for the all-time record books but seemingly no one cares at this point. Giannis needs a second ring to reach the next tier of market performance it would seem.
